Schedule Google Forms to open and close automatically

Some Google Forms should only collect responses during a specific window: applications, event signups, daily intake forms, office-hour requests, or limited-time surveys.

Use scheduled controls when

Registration windows

Open and close signups around a fixed event or application period.

Daily intake forms

Keep the same link or QR code while controlling when responses are accepted.

Internal request queues

Close intake after a deadline and reopen it for the next collection period.

Capacity control

Combine timers with response limits so the earliest rule closes the form.

Set a close or reopen time

  1. Open your Google Form.
  2. Open FormGuard from the Google Forms add-ons menu.
  3. Turn on Timer.
  4. Choose a close time, a reopen time, or both.
  5. Save settings.
Google Apps Script time triggers are not second-level schedulers. Timer actions usually run within a few minutes of the scheduled time, depending on Google's trigger scheduling.

Best fit

Use this for operational control, not for high-stakes second-level timing. For most classes, events, signups, and intake windows, a few minutes of scheduling variance is usually acceptable.
