Document Studio-style migration test

A lighter Document Studio alternative for document merge

Document Studio-style tools automate whole document workflows. DocForge does one thing: turn selected Google Sheets rows into verified Docs or PDFs from a single template — with a one-file proof gate before the batch and per-row retry when something fails.

Not a drop-in replacement: Document Studio is a broader document automation product with its own workflow model and plan structure. DocForge does not claim workflow parity. It covers one job: rows → verified documents, one template, one proof file, then the batch.

Document Studio-style workflow vs DocForge

Full document platforms ask you to adopt their workflow model. DocForge asks for a template and a sheet, then proves itself on one file before you trust it with the batch.

One-template migration test

  1. Prepare one Google Docs template with merge fields and one data sheet.
  2. Map the fields and generate a single proof file from the first real row.
  3. Open the proof file and verify every mapped field — names, dates, numbers, formatting.
  4. Fix the template or the data until the proof file is exactly right.
  5. Run the batch for the remaining rows.
  6. Check per-row status; retry only the rows that failed.

Why the proof gate matters

The expensive document-merge mistake is the batch-wide template error: one unmapped field, multiplied by 200 files, discovered after they were sent. Generating one file first turns a 200-file cleanup into a two-minute template fix. Failed-row retry completes the picture — a bad phone number in row 137 should not cost you a full regeneration.
